Optimise your Network Infrastructure
STEP’s Network Monitoring System allows network operators to monitor the performance of their equipment across diverse and disparate networks by utilising cloud-hosted technology. STEP’s NMS actively monitors and records a broad range of system KPIs 24/7/365 to provide visibility and accurately predict any degradation and system anomalies. STEP’s NMS provides an objective tool to measure system KPIs and report on customer service level agreements.
A simple solution for complex networks: an ethernet connection is all you need
Let’s simplify your complex network. STEP’s NMS overcomes the challenges of monitoring complex, disparate networks by offering you ubiquitous oversight of your network. One of the key challenges our NMS helps overcome is to help provide a simple solution to monitor the equipment located on the remote side of point to point links.
STEP’s NMS utilises simple network monitoring protocol (SNMP) at the ethernet layer making it almost universally supported and widely compatible with existing network infrastructure. STEP’s NMS simplifies original equipment manufacturer-provided MIBs for straightforward and low-cost integration across your network so you can focus on what’s important.
STEP’s commitment to best-of-class technology means we’re constantly updating and offering new integrations such as SNMP v3 with its enhanced cyber security protocols to futureproof the networks we support.
Automate your Network Operations Center to increase network performance and reduce your operational costs
Automate your network management with STEP’s machine learning algorithms
STEP’s NMS has been designed to integrate with networks of all complexities, working with devices and services such as modems, upconverters/down converters, routers, TWTAs, SSPA/Bs, servers, spectrum analyses, and switches. Utilising Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Application Programming Interface (API), modBUS, and custom scripts, our NMS speaks your language.
Most importantly, automate your network and safeguard your equipment with STEP’s customised scripts that use KPI triggers to automatically implement mitigation and restoration actions without a NOC operator’s manual intervention. STEP’s machine-learning empowered NMS can actively reduce your operating costs by implementing mitigation strategies faster and more accurately than a human operator
Case Study 1: Protecting essential infrastructure
After repeated outages on a customer’s network due to cooling system failures, STEP’s NMS engineers were tasked with building a solution that would automatically rescue the expensive BUC component from overheating and failing. In the past, overheating could only manually be resolved, however STEP’s engineers implemented an automated rescue strategy that switches the BUC’s RF to an off state to reduce the heading load on the unit whilst maintaining connectivity with the NMS. STEP’s proprietary machine-learning algorithm has since ensured there have been no BUC failures in this customer’s network due to overheating saving them time and money
Case Study 2: Automating Network Operation Centre Functions
STEP’s inclined orbit tracking antenna systems utilise highly-accurate two-line ephemeris data for their tracking position data that needs regular updating to achieve the optimum antenna pointing accuracy. To lower the workload for STEP’s NOC operators, STEP sought to automate this process and increase the updating interval to improve the accuracy and precision of our inclined orbit antenna systems. STEP’s engineers developed a customised script that incorporates machine learning to automatically update the TLE data from the NORAD database and push it to the antenna control units in our network while maintaining full visibility and operational control of the antenna systems
Network monitoring solutions capture metrics at specific intervals
Let STEP’s NMS do the hard work for you. Our software offers network administrators insight into key performance metrics so you can track the health and performance of your network components in real-time and produce comparative reports with historical data as baselines to put real-time measurements in context. Now you can monitor key metrics for measuring traffic including latency, packet errors, TCP retransmits, packet metadata, and so much more.
Network monitoring software supports proactive visibility and troubleshooting
STEP’s NMS offers network administrators at-a-glance views of their network status with an interactive dashboard that proactively highlights anomalies to prioritise diagnosis and rectification. We can personalise your dashboard with custom alerting capabilities that are triggered by user-set thresholds and sent in real-time by email, SMS and push notifications through the app, to enable you to resolve both minor issues like momentary bottlenecks and major issues like server crashes with limited service disruption.
