SAVE TIME AND MONEY BY UPGRADING AND REFURBISHING YOUR SYSTEM
Refresh your existing assets for a competitive advantage by establishing your antenna system at a lower cost in a shorter time. Our clients maximise their ground station’s potential and enjoy the benefits of short lead times and greater return on investment by upgrading and refurbishing their existing earth station antenna infrastructure. Best of all, upgrading and refurbishing overcomes the need to undertake costly and extensive local government and stakeholder approvals.
YOU POSE THE CHALLENGE, WE’LL DELIVER THE SOLUTION
In-orbit infrastructure has a lifecycle of 15 years, however earth station infrastructure is built with a 20-30 year lifecycle. Let our team of specialists overcome this mismatch and realise your earth station infrastructure’s full potential across multiple missions by refurbishing and upgrading your existing assets.
Earth station antennas are built to last. While antenna designs rarely change, the specialist electronic equipment that keeps them operational has evolved. Today’s electronics are more efficient, more accurate and more precise.
For a system to work well you need accuracy and precision in equilibrium. Our team of specialists will prescribe upgrades to motor drives, position sensors, antenna control units, and modern tracking methodologies to revive your existing earth station infrastructure.
What is the difference between accuracy and precision? Accuracy is how close you get to your target. Precision is how regularly you can achieve that accuracy.
STEP Electronics is partnered with Research Concepts (RCI), a US-based supplier and subject matter expert in modern motorisation and antenna control systems. We use RCI antenna controllers in a diverse range of systems from our 1.8m inclined orbit tracking systems to auto-deploy, and vehicle mounted SNG antennas, to large earth station antennas up to 18m.
Upgrade your system to leverage advances in technology such as variable frequency drives and resolver position sensors to achieve pointing accuracy and two-line element ephemeris data to precisely align your earth station antenna to the desired satellite.

BASEBAND L BAND SUB-SYSTEM UPGRADE
Advances in modem and VSAT hub technology allows systems to be significantly higher throughput than their equivalent legacy systems. A modern VSAT hub combined with a high throughput satellite can provide multiple Gbps by utilising modern DVB waveforms such as DVB-S2, DVB-S2X, and NS4. To enable this higher throughput, baseband systems which connect the modem and VSAT hub equipment (indoors) to the RF chain (outdoors) must be upgraded to L band because L band provides significantly more bandwidth than when compared to 70/140MHz IF.
Let our team of highly-skilled technicians design an L band baseband sub-system for your earth station antenna system.
NETWORK MONITORING SYSTEMS & SATELLITE SPECTRUM MONITORING SYSTEMS
A Network Monitoring System (NMS) is critical to maximise the true potential of modern satellite equipment. STEP Electronics’s NMS is designed to leverage modern ethernet and SNMP capabilities that have become standard across satellite communications manufacturers.
STEP Electronics’s NMS is cloud-based, user friendly and scalable. Connected by a simple ethernet interface and using SNMP, our clients enjoy the benefits of a simple cloud-based NMS solution. Our NMS provides visibility over all of your equipment in the network regardless of location, providing a granular level of detail to support your teams detect and mitigate suboptimal performance and degradation of system components. With STEP Electronics’s NMS you can monitor a diverse range of system performance indicators to schedule proactive maintenance and system outages before it fails.
An additional layer to STEP Electronics’s NMS is Integrasys’s RF carrier monitoring and interference detection system. The system provides automatic detection and mitigation of satellite interference intuitively integrated into the NMS to provide automated alarms to alert your NOC.
