Description
The Kymeta u8 Antenna is an Electronically Steered Phased Array Antenna that provides operators with a flat form factor satellite antenna with unrivalled performance. The Kymeta u8’s flat form factor allow the antenna to be mounted on vehicles and used in applications that previously were not possible with traditional parabolic satellite antenna terminals. Kymeta’s latest u8 Antenna model has been re-engineered from the previous Kymeta u7 model to provide full coverage of the Ku band, increased antenna performance (up to 2.5dB), and extended environmental coverage.
The Kymeta u8 Antenna is the first commercially available flat panel style antenna that is truly a one touch system and can be operated by just about anyone, if you can use an iPhone then you can operate a Kymeta u8 Antenna system. But don’t let the easy of operating the Kymeta u8 Antenna system takeaway from the incredible engineering and software that powers the system and enables the Kymeta u8 to actively track satellites in geostationary orbit (and LEO) while you drive down the highway at 110km/hr.
The Kymeta u8 Antenna model is the bare antenna version and doesn’t included an integrated modem, Wi-Fi, or cellular modem. This version is designed for Systems Integrators and allows them the flexibility t0 fit different modems, BUCs, and LNBs to the Kymeta u8 Antenna and optimise the terminal for their customers specific application.
STEP Electronics is the Australia distributor of the Kymeta range of products and has been working with Kymeta since 2016. STEP Electronics’ technical staff have been trained by Kymeta to provide installation, commissioning, and field maintenance services. STEP Electronics parent company Av-Comm provides managed satellite services for the Kymeta u7 and u8 terminals, offering satellite network design and on-demand services.

Kymeta was formed in 2012 for the express purpose to commercialise metamaterials in satellite communications and building an electronically-steerable antenna for satellite using metamaterial science. In 2017, Kymeta introduced the first-generation product, the Kymeta u7 terminal which leveraged the science and technology behind metamaterials. This ground breaking research and production of the u7 laid the ground work for Kymeta’s next generation of products, the Kymeta u8 terminal. The Kymtea u7 and Kymeta u8 provide revolutionary mobile connectivity on satellite and hybrid satellite-cellular networks to customers around the world. Kymeta makes connecting easy – for any vehicle, vessel, or fixed platform.
