BUC's

Compare

Nowadays, due to the large variety of commercial modems with IF at L-band, and the short price difference between them and those with IF 70 or 140 MHz, together with the reliability, low cost and versatility offered by the BUC (Block Up Converter), 70 or 140 MHz IF Transceivers are being replaced by BUCs. ACORDE takes into 5W, 10W, 20W and 25W.

The Codan LBUC platform was originally designed for low power applications powered directly from a DC power source supplied by a modem. In recent times we have significantly stretched the power capability of this platform and can now offer up to 20 W in C-Band.

ACORDE takes into account the actual requirements of the worldwide market, and paying attention to the previous considerations, it is proud to present a selection of military specification BUCs (ACTX series) working at X frequency band. The system is completed with a low cost LNB, and it is equivalent in terms of functionality and configurability to the transceiver systems, but achieving cheaper prices and higher reliability; this means, the perfect solution for portable applications.

ACTX-Ka series are a family of outdoor RF Block-Up Converters (BUC), designed for Ka-band satellite communication systems. ACTX-Ka BUCs are integrated units with power supply, phase locked oscillator, power amplifier, frequency converters and cooling system. ACTX-Ka series BUCs have been tested and calibrated between -20º and +55ºC, so they assure very good gain stability with temperature. They also include a temperature alarm and power supply shutdown to protect the amplifier from permanent damages when temperature exceeds 80ºC.

Comtechs extensive experience in the design of outdoor RF transceivers led to the LPOD family of BUC products’ efficient thermal and mechanical package. Recognizing the evolution of L-Band IF systems, the LPOD is designed to eliminate the traditional requirement for the modem to supply a DC power source and a 10 MHz reference to the BUCs and LNBs. The LPOD’s optional internal reference and LNB bias T greatly simplify multi-carrier operation and provide cost-effective redundant solutions. Featuring an internal power supply, internal reference, and internal LNB bias capability, the LPOD units offer very cost effective solutions for 1:1 redundant Tx and 1:1 redundant Rx requirements. And, the compact size and weight make the units ideally suited to installations with limited mounting space.

The Paradise Datacom legacy 31C and 31K Series of L Band to C- and Ku-Band Block Up Converters offer a wide array of choices to configure VSAT uplink terminals. Output power levels include 10 and 20W in C-Band and 4, 8 and 10W in Ku-Band.

Internal Phase Locked Local Oscillator provides excellent phase noise when locked to an external 10 MHz reference. The BUC can be powered by a separate 48 VDC input or by the IFL via the coaxial input. The coaxial IFL input can carry the L Band block (950-1525 MHz in C-Band and 950-1450 MHz in Ku-Band), 10 MHz reference, 48 VDC, and an optional 650 KHz FSK monitor and control signal.
